1. What are you reading now?
I am currently reading My America, a collection of our students' memories published in April 2016. I love this book because it depicts an important segment of our community in CMS, Charlotte and North Carolina through the eyes of our youth. I love it because it is my first book.

2. What are you reading next?
I want to read the lyrics of Nobel Prize winner Bob Dylan and learn about the new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.

3. What's your favorite book of all time?
I couldn't decide on only one book. There are three authors that I've admired since my childhood: Ernest Hemingway, Lin Yutang and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. If I have to call out some of their works in particular, I would say For Whom the Bell Tolls, Moment in Peking and Love in the Time of Cholera.

4. What's your favorite time and place to read?
One of my favorite things about being a teacher is that I can read all night and sleep in during the summer break. I love romantic historical stories and biographies. Reading allows me to travel to places and times I have never been and become people I would never be or meet.

5. Where do you get your books?
I am old-fashioned. I love the smell of books, the texture of the pages on my fingers, the power of the words in ink. I buy books in bookstores, especially when I travel, and keep them forever.
